Tips to Beat the Pregnancy Blues
Simple tips to help you beat
the pregnancy blues.
No one can be happy and feel
great every day. During my second pregnancy, felt huge,
unattractive and couldn't wait for it to be over so I could
get back my old body and into my regular clothes. Then I
felt guilty for feeling that way. Pregnancy is a beautiful
time in a woman's life.
However, when those pregnancy blues hit, when you feel
overly large, and you can't see your feet, and you feel like
you're waddling like a duck, and your feet are swollen ten
times what you think they should be, and the list goes on.
The truth is, these feeling are normal, and yes on top of
these feelings you have to deal with your raging hormones as
well.
Listed below are some tips to help you beat those pregnancy
blues:
- Get plenty of rest and
eat health. Make sure you get enough folic acid, and all
the nutritious your physician recommends.
- Get plenty of exercise,
even is this means walking around your yard. Exercising
will give you more energy and lift your spirits.
- Even if you don't feel
like it, take the time to groom yourself. Fix your hair,
put on your makeup, and if you have the time, pamper
yourself with a trip to the salon. You'll feel confident
and will have a better outlook.
- Purchase maternity
clothes that make you feel beautiful. Don't just buy
something because it fits. How you feel about your looks
does affect your emotions.
- Don't be afraid to
indulge in some pretty accessories. A pretty scarf or a
nice pair of earrings can dress up an outfit, and make
you feel better about yourself.
- If you are feeling
bored, or blue, then consider doing an activity that will
guarantee you'll enjoy yourself. This can be anything
from preparing the baby's room, shopping, gardening,
preparing a scrapbook, writing in a pregnancy journal,
swimming, or whatever
activity that you enjoy doing. However, I would put off
rock climbing until after you deliver.
- Fact, approximately 10%
of women experience mild to moderate depression during
their pregnancy. If you are having prolonged or persistent
depression, or anxiety, immediately seek professional
help.
- Plan dates with your
spouse. Set aside quality time for just the two of you.
If you already have children, get a baby sitter and go
out for a romantic dinner or movie. Once the baby
arrives, it will be harder to find time alone with your
spouse.
- Make time for yourself.
This can be reading a book, soaking in a warm bubble
bath, having a pedicure and manicure. The important
thing is to make time for you.
- Enjoy this wonderful
experience. Pretty soon, these 9 months will be over,
then before you know it your child will be going off to
college.
Every woman gets the
pregnancy blues. It's important to feel great about being a
woman and bringing new life into the world. Trust me, you
will see your feet again.
